Offmore Primary School

Meet the Governors

Joint Chair of Governors - Marie Bradbury

I come from a family of teachers and have worked in schools for 23 years across Birmingham, Oxfordshire and Worcestershire, including Kidderminster. This has included 17 years in senior leadership positions in schools. I am currently the Headteacher of a first school in Redditch. The Offmore vision and aims very closely align with my own beliefs and values so I became a Governor in November 2019. My particular passion is educational leadership - leadership that enables everyone in a school community to thrive and flourish. I also pride myself in being a champion
and ambassador for learners who (in any way) are vulnerable.

 GDPR Lead - Nick Hughes

I have been a Solicitor in the Wyre Forest area for nearly 40 years and live in Offmore’s catchment area. I am Chairman of the Kidderminster Civic Society and involved in many other local clubs and societies, for instance I have been a  Trustee of the Museum of Carpet. I have been a Governor at Offmore for about 10 years and have also been a Vice Chairman and Chairman of Finance at a local High School. I have had four children attend Offmore First and Primary Schools and my wife works in the school. I was instrumental in the design of the new building a few years ago. Offmore is therefore very close to my heart!

Early Years Governor - Cynthia Johnstone

I have a lifetime of experience working  in education. My career has been as a teacher, deputy head and an Advanced Skills Early Years  Teacher in a variety of schools. I have been involved with the  work of governing bodies in other schools and was previously a teacher rep for many years. I was asked to be a co-opted Offmore Governor in July 2019 with special focus for Early Years. I am looking forward to supporting the school ,staff and children along their exciting developmental journey. As a wife and a mother of an extended family of grown up children and grandchildren I believe I have empathy with family life and its rewards and trials.

Staff Governor - Leanne Newton

I absolutely love being a teacher! I was inspired to become a teacher because of my favourite primary school teacher. I remember how she made learning so much fun, this was my motivation to complete my degree at Warwick University and I started my very first teaching post in 2000. I believe you are never too old to learn something new, which I do on a daily basis alongside the wonderful children I teach.

I've been a member of the Offmore family since 2019 and it has been such a rewarding experience. The children, staff, parents and wider community are totally amazing! I was appointed as a school governor in July 2023, which I was delighted about! I find it very rewarding being a part of the governing body because I enjoy working as a team. I'm proud of the staff and children of Offmore and I'm committed to helping to continue to improve outcomes for the pupils of Offmore.

I'm smart, I'm proud and I love being at Offmore!

Joint Chair / Safeguarding Governor - Fran Oborski

A retired School Improvement Adviser; I have been a local Councillor for the Offmore area since 1973 and a County Councillor since 2001. I have a graduate qualification in SEND and spent 40 years in the Education Profession. I am a Safeguarding and Prevent Trainer and Chair to the Worcestershire County Council Children and Families Scrutiny Panel. As a cat lover, I share my home with 4 feline friends who believe that they are sharing their home with me! I enjoy folk music and foreign travel, and apart from driving to Poland every summer, I try to have at least one “long haul” holiday every 18 months.

 Finance Governor - Jane Large

In December 2020 I took early retirement after working for Birmingham City Council for 32 years, nearly 25 of which were in education. My schools career began in the Secondary provision but I soon realised Primary was my calling and spent 13 years as a Senior Office Manager before taking my Certificate in School Business Management. Upon completion I moved to a CofE Primary School in one of the most deprived areas of Birmingham as a Strategic Business Manager where I stayed until the end of my career.

At the same time as making the decision to take early retirement we decided to move out of Birmingham and moved to Wolverley. A big change but every day we appreciate this beautiful part of the country. We have two sons and a one year old granddaughter who keep us very busy.

All children deserve the opportunity to have the academic education and nuturing that Offmore gives their pupils so that they believe in themselves and can achieve whatever they want in life.

I am very excited about being a Governor at Offmore Primary School and look forward to being part of their future journey.

Parent Governor - Joanne Hastings

I am a Local Authority Internal Auditor for Warwickshire County Council, specifically working with schools, and I feel I have a lot of experience to offer. I am very excited to be joining the Governing Body.

My professional background is in accountancy and audit, and I have been auditing schools; both locally and in Warwickshire, since 2012. I am aware of the challenges currently being faced, and the beauty of my job is being exposed to a wide variety of different schools, different styles of leadership and therefore I am able to offer a different viewpoint and ultimately share examples of best practice.

By far my most important role is being a parent to two children attending Offmore Primary and I couldnt support the future of Offmore anymore than I already do.

Parent Governor - Sarah Cheetham

I am a primary school teacher with over 14 years' of experience teaching in both KS1 and KS2.

I have middle management experience as an English lead and have previously been a staff governor.

I am passionate about teaching and education and believe my experience will be beneficial to the Offmore governing body.

I am currently a stay at home mum to my two girls. My eldest daughter started in the Reception at Offmore this year. I look forward to being a governor and supporting the school in the future.

Parent Governor - Alex Lane

I am a proud father and passionate about promoting physical and mental health for adults and children.

My professional work is in the field of health and wellbeing, with over a decade in helping many people live a better quality of life. My hope is to transfer this knowledge to help younger generations live a life to their full potential.

My little boy is a happy Offmore Duckling, he loves adventuring outside and learning through play. I cannot wait to bring what I can do to help children thrive in and out of Offmore school.
